Isabel trained in France and Spain, has practiced her entire career in the United Sates, and has worked on cases under all major international arbitration rules and seats around the world.  The projects underlying the arbitrations she has worked on have been in Americas, continental Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

She brings to her independent practice an extensive understanding of the common and civil law systems, as well as public international law, including investment treaties, and the intersection between ISDS and commercial disputes.

One of the highlights of her career was acting in a leading capacity for Unión Fenosa Gas in their multi-year and multi-fora dispute against the Arab Republic of Egypt—which resulted in a US2.2-billion-dollar ICSID award in favor of her client in 2018 (one of the then-largest awards) as well as the defeat of several complete defenses. A member of the ICDR roster of arbitrators since 2011.

In parallel to her counsel work, Isabel has been an active neutral for years.  A member of the ICDR roster of arbitrators since 2011, she has recently arbitrated several commercial international disputes concerning, exclusive sales agreements and licensing agreements, among others, under standard and expedited rules.
