Arbitrator Practice

EXPERIENCE AS AN INDEPENDENT ARBITRATOR AND COUNSEL

Isabel left big law to be able to spend more time as an arbitrator on both international commercial and investment disputes.  For her, efficiency and attention to detail go hand-in-hand and arbitrators must exert themselves at both. She has ample experience in disputes where different legal traditions intersect and is able to think through and break down intricate factual and legal issues.

Through her many years in private practice, Isabel has gained a deep understanding of the needs and expectations of arbitration users and practitioners.  She has also held leadership positions in several professional organizations, which have given her visibility into the way key administering institutions work, as well as their goals and expectations.  For instance, from 2017 to 2020 she was a member of the ICDR Y&I global advisory board. Prior to that, she was the chair of the ICDR’s Translation Committee, in charge of translating the 2014 Rules to eight different languages.
