As counsel, Isabel brings her 20+ years of experience in complex international commercial and investment arbitration to her independent practice. She has first- and second-chaired a variety of matters and workstreams under most major rules (ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL, CRCICA, SCC, etc.). In addition to designing the case strategy, she has had primary responsibility for pleadings, working with and cross-examining fact and expert witnesses, and doing oral advocacy.

She has worked on cases of all sizes and levels of complexity, from small breach-of-contract matters to the most complex, cutting-edge international legal disputes.
Her roster of cases includes the high-profile Chevron v. Ecuador and Unión Fenosa Gas v. Egypt arbitrations, and a set of related commercial disputes concerning LNG. She has also worked on many contractual disputes relating, for example, to long-term supply agreements in various industries (such as electricity, oil exploration and production, LNG), distribution agreements, manufacturing agreements, construction and operation agreements, and others.
Isabel’s practice also includes coordinating numerous parallel proceedings in various jurisdictions, including cross-border litigation and arbitration for complex disputes. She has dealt with questions of international lis pendens and res judicata, illegality of the investment, public policy objections, motions to stay arbitration, among others.
Isabel has experience on arbitration issues involving States, State-entities, private actors (entities and individuals) and products/services that are subject to international trade sanctions and export controls.
